Whitby Gazette’s dancing girls stole the show at the Mayor’s spring ball when they took to the floor to help raise money for charity.

Photographer Ceri Oakes, ad reps Heather Zink and Nicole Plant and receptionist Jude Readman saw off competition from Whitby Town Council when they both performed a routine from the seventies musical Grease.

It was the highlight of last Saturday’s ball hosted by Mayor of Whitby, Coun John Freeman. It is the second time he has organised the event with three course meal at Larpool Hall in aid of local charities and causes.

Last year’s event made £2000 and this year the total is still being totted up but is on course for being even more successful.

The dancers were coached by the LP dance centre and other entertainment was provided by the pupils of the Benson Stage Academy and Whitby’s Air Cadets were on hand to meet and greet guests.
