AN EXCITING mix of Whitby artwork is on display at a new Pannett Art Gallery open exhibition.
A diverse range of artists submitted pieces for selection by a panel, equipped with a wealth of experience in co-ordinating high quality exhibitions.
Curator Helen Berry said: “It’s wonderful to see the wealth of talent there is locally.
“We have been overwhelmed by the huge and enthusiastic response to our call for submissions.
“We had over 300 entries and there is just not enough space to display all the high quality work we were offered.”
This meant that some artists will not have been chosen for the exhibition, but Mrs Berry added that she hopes this won’t put artists off submitting again in the future.
The selection panel consisted of four individuals from a range of artistic backgrounds, including a local authority arts officer, a manager of a large public collection and two practising artists who have worked on a number of prestigious art projects.
Much of the work on display is for sale and the exhibition is open Tuesday-Sunday 9.30am-4.30pm until 11 December.
Admission is free.
