Festival looking for a new chairman

THE Eskdale Festival is on the look out for a new chairman after the previous one stepped down.

Canon Revd Edwin Newlyn held the position over recent years and was said to be “a calm and welcoming presence” for many nervous competitors.

Secretary David Rowland said: “His contribution has been much appreciated. The committee is now looking for someone who can replace Edwin as the public face of the Festival and who can oversee the work of the organising committee.”

The search for a new chairman begins as the syllabus for the Eskdale Festival 2014 is released featuring a wide range of competitive and non-competitive classes in the spoken word and music.

Entries for this year’s competition close on 10th December and entries received before 22 November qualify for a 10% discount. Enquiries to eskdalefestival@gmail.com or contact 600403.
