A MEMORIAL Christmas tree is to take centre stage at a Whitby funeral home.

Co-operative Funeralcare in Well Close Square is providing the tree to help local people remember their loved ones during the festive season, which can often be an extremely painful time for the bereaved.

Dawn Hodgson at Co-operative Funeralcare said: “This is the third year we have offered a memorial tree in honour of those who have died, as it has always proved to be a great help for relatives and friends”.

Families and friends are being invited to visit the funeral home and decorate the tree with cards in memory of those close to them who have died. If they wish, families may also leave a small donation to charity.

Dawn added: “We know that Christmas and New Year, in particular, is a time when people look back and remember those they’ve lost.

“We hope our memorial Christmas tree will again benefit the families concerned at this difficult time.”

The Co-operative Funeralcare funeral home is open from 8.30am until 5pm Monday to Friday and people will be able to leave memorial cards on the tree right up until 23 December.
