Produce a short adaption of The Lion King in just one week - that was the task set a workshop of would-be actors recently.
On Monday August 4, media company Colebrooke Media set up a dancing and acting workshop, and an “overwhelming” number of local children took up the challenge.
Organiser Chris Colebrooke said: “This sort of event is just what Whitby needs, something cheap for the parents and enjoyable for the kids.”
Learning co-ordinator Josh Harrison is also a teaching assitant at West Cliff School and he used this experience to help with the smooth operation of the workshop.
Meanwhile, Chris taught the dance, alongside sister Chanelle, Meg Locker and student dance teachers Alysha Swales and Ellie Clarke.
The workshop ran from 10am to 4pm and one parent was heard to say they had not seen a single child leave without a smile on their face.
Chris added: “This workshop was the first of its kind for Colebrooke Media and the support from parents has been utterly fantastic and there is set to be a lot more.”
A free DVD will be given to each family, featuring highlights from throughout the week, including a photo reel and a complete video of the final performance.
