Castleton musician Alistair Griffin has joined forces with former Girls Aloud singer Kimberly Walsh for his latest single.
The Road is the official anthem of Yorkshire’s Grand Depart 2014 and Alistair was asked to write and perform the official song.
Alistair said: “It’s a genuine honour to have written the track to celebrate this globally famous event and to have Kimberley involved with her passion for music is incredible.
“We all hope it will be the music that springs to mind when people think of the Tour de France this year and hopefully two British winners for the first two stages.”
Alistair has a track record of writing for major sporting events. His track Just Drive is the title music for Sky Sports’ Formula 1 coverage and millions heard his music when Andy Murray lifted the Wimbledon trophy in 2013 as his song What If was chosen to soundtrack the BBC’s coverage.
He also makes a mean lemon curd and often submits and entry to Castleton Show.
Former Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh said: “To work with Alistair on the official anthem is exciting - it’s an emotional, rousing track that people can sing along to.
“It has a special resonance to me because it’s my home county and the race will go through my home city of Bradford.
“Whether you love cycling or not, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and come July 5, the whole world will see and know Yorkshire.”
