'GET your belongings and furniture out now,' was the message as some homes at Knipe Point, near Cayton Bay in Scarborough faced collapse in a landslip.
Residents in the houses close to those worst affected by an active landslip were ordered to take their belongings and move immediately.
Furniture removal men saved what could safely be retrieved.

The Evening News exclusively revealed the severity of the landslip which threatens to destroy houses, and just a third of a mile from the Scarborough to Bridlington road.

Five houses are in the danger zone. The landslip has rapidly moved along the cliff edge within days.

Kevin and Mary Lloyd, who have owned their detached house in Knipe Point with a superb sea view for 17 years, were told to remove their possessions from their home just a few hours after Mr Lloyd had returned from having a hip replacement at the hospital.

Mr Lloyd said: "A demolition notice hasn't been served on this house yet, but we have been told it will be.

"They wanted us to get everything out. Apparently the cliff has moved 6ftin the last 24 hours."

The letter from the National Trust states that there is a "significant risk" of landslip activity over the next few days or weeks.
