Gala weekend a huge success - VIDEO
RAILWAY fanatics flocked to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for the first part of the LNER Gala Weekend.
The A4 Pacific class Sir Nigel Gresley, Union of South Africa and Bittern were a magnet for photographers while the Green Arrow, nearing the end of its service on the line, was pulling a restored LNER teak set of carriages.
There is also a Thompson B1 4-6-0 No 61264, K1 2-6-0 No 62005, and a recently restored North Eastern Railway Q6 No 63395 will also be in traffic while a newly announced fifth visitor will be 'J15' No. 65462 from the North Norfolk Railway.
There will be weekend Esk Valley operations to Battersby on Saturday and Sunday, with two train operations on the Sunday, and freight shuttles on the NYMR line.
