A TRAPPED seagull sparked a rescue attempt by firefighters on Monday evening.
The seagull was stuck on the roof of the Scope charity shop in Baxtergate and was spotted by a member of the public who could see the bird struggling and called the RSPCA who in turn asked the fire brigade to see if they could assist.

Crews from Whitby and Scarborough attended and used a lift platform to get onto the rescue and free the frightened bird.

The crews were at the scene for an hour and a half until the bird was freed and then flew off.
