A WHITBY man whose late wife was an avid cricket fan was presented with the Yorkshire v Nottinghamshire match ball on a plinth.
Philip Dunn, a Yorkshire County Cricket Club member, was presented with the ball by Howard Ferguson, the club’s sponsorship services manager. His wife Pauline died suddenly at Christmas.
Both Philip and his granddaughter Kathy Mugglestone were delighted on the match day to see Whitby’s own Adam Lyth in form, scoring 64 on a warm and sunny day.
The Dunn family say they were grateful for the “wonderful” Yorkshire hospitality and were accompanied by former Whitby resident Jack Swinglehurst who at 84 is a lifelong supporter of the club with which he has strong family ties.
