Whitby CC 1sts one game from title

WHITBY Cricket Club's first team can be crowned champions of the North Yorkshire and South Durham League division B tomorrow.

They need a minimum of 19 points to win the league and with 20 points for a victory, a win at Seaton Carew tomorrow will clinch them the title.

This is despite a disappointing defeat at Darlington RA last Saturday.

If the 1sts do not succeed tomorrow, they will get a second chance in the final game of the season a week tomorrow at home to Hartlepool 2nds.

It could be a big weekend for Whitby as the club's under 15s – who have already claimed a league and cup double in their inaugural season – face a play-off game on Sunday morning.

The youngsters who won the league's under 15s south group, take on the winners of the under 15s north group to see who emerges as overall champions.

See Tuesday's Whitby Gazette for scorecard and photo of the under 15s' cup final clash. We will also feature Whitby's 15/15 team's finals day at Stokesley.
