What a set of aces!

YOUNGSTERS from school years three and four from Whitby primary schools took part in the Ryedale and Whitby School Sport Partnership mini tennis tournament at Whitby Leisure Centre.

Teams from the following schools took part – West Cliff, Airy Hill, Lythe, Fylingdales, Ruswarp, St Hilda's, Stakesby, East Whitby, Danby, Sleights, Castleton and Oakridge.

Children played a series of singles matches which then contributed to their overall team score.

Airy Hill School came out on top during the morning session, followed by teams from Lythe and then Ruswarp schools in second and third places.

The afternoon competition was won by East Whitby, with Danby in second and Stakesby finishing in third.

The two winning schools, Airy Hill and East Whitby, will now compete in the next round at Lady Lumleys School against the winning teams from the Ryedale area.
