Vasey reels in large cod to lead the heaviest bag

WHITBY Sea Anglers have been braving the chilly temperatures in their latest matches.

Wednesday 13 JanuaryFISHING a low water match, with heavy easterly movement and not much colour in the water, most anglers struggled to find the fish.

However, Mike Vasey caught three fish for 17lb 4oz, including a fish of 12lb 12oz, for the heaviest bag of the season so far.

Results: 1) M Vasey 17-4 (3), 2) A Cass 2-10, 3) D Thompson 2-3 , 4) P Kilpatrick 1-13 (1), 5) F Trueman 1-7 (1).

Sunday 17 January

A LOW water match with a good easterly movement, lacking colour in the water, made for disappointing results.

The winner was Colin Stainthorpe with three fish for 5lb 9oz.

Results: 1) C Stainthorpe 5-9 (3), 2) F Trueman 4-13 (1), 3) B Harland 1-6 (1), 4) B Laws 1-3 (1), 5) R Allison 15oz (1), 6) M Vasey 7oz (1).
