Staithes Club plays hosts to darts marathon in memory of David
ELEVEN darts players took to the oche at Staithes Club for a 12-hour darts marathon in memory of David Rhodes, a good friend of Graham Ridley.
David died of cancer at an early age and the players who had got to know him wanted to do something in his memory.
It was suggested a darts marathon take place with all the proceeds to be donated to Macmillan nurses.
The players who took part would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who sponsored them with a special thank you to Corus Steelworks for their generous donation to the total, also to the people from Hinderwell who took part in the Brian Clennan Memorial Trophy who donated their sponsor money to the total as well.
Finally, thanks to Staithes Club for allowing use of the facilities and helping to make the fund-raiser a big success.
The total raised was a magnificent 1,500 and a cheque was presented to a representative from Macmillan nurses at Staithes Club after the Rose Smith memorial trophy last Saturday.
The trophy is a match between teams from Staithes Club and Carlin How.
