Pybus and Lawson capture pairs honour
Sleights Bowling Club played a friendly match against Kirkbymoorside, which they lost by 12 shots.
They also held their annual club pairs knockout competition, with 16 teams taking part.
As usual the partners were drawn at random, and the games were played over 11 ends with each player having four woods.
The quarter-finalists were Keith Thompson, who has won this trophy for the past two years, and Lola Campbell, against Joyce Blythman and Beryl Raw.
Keith and Lola won through to play against John Pybus and Benny Lawson in the final, after they had beaten Terry Bogg and Terry Reid.
Both these games had been very closely fought.
The winners of the final were John Pybus and Benny Lawson, after an excellent game.
Sleights lost to Kirkbymoorside at home, 87 to 99.
J Rudsdale, B Lawson, P Rudsdale lost 11-12. E Sanderson, M Wade, J Moore won 18-9.
JR Moore, O Tordoff, E Clark lost 12-20: F Lawson, P Shardlow, H Brown drew 16-16.
T Reid, M Summersgill, L Campbell lost 13-20. J Pybus, R Summersgill, I Pearson lost 17-22.
