National success for Frenchie
LIZ Kettle of Mickleby near Whitby enjoyed a successful 500-mile journey to the National Side Saddle Championships at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire.
Riding her former racehorse Coeur Du Lion, she won the Sandon Saddlery Silver Cup for Equitation after being judged on her immaculate turnout and superb dressage test.
Coeur Du Lion, a former sprinter, then came second in the hack class when ridden by Redcar's Susan Perkins.
They followed this up the next day in the retrained racehorse class when they were fifth and the highest-placed ex-racehorse to be ridden side saddle, beating some of the top ex-racehorses horses in the south of England.
Liz then rode Frenchie, as she is fondly known, in the adult side saddle rider and was delighted to come fourth in a very strong class against some of the top riders and judges in the country.
