Whitby Hockey Club’s juniors have been enjoying training since September and the club have welcomed several new players into the junior section.

With club numbers now back up to 20, Whitby were able to enter the friendly Durham League’s junior tournament at Stockton.

The tournament was open to all clubs in the Durham/Cleveland area for Under-14s boys and girls.

Whitby travelled with two teams of seven and enjoyed a fabulous day of hockey.

The weather proved perfect for hockey and Whitby A and Whitby B team played Stockton, Darlington, Norton, Stokesley and Guisborough.

Their training has been paying off and this match experience is so valuable.

They had four wins and three losses but this did not reflect their skill and determination in each game.

Whitby now hope to move forward with their juniors and will be attending more tournaments in Durham and Scarborough in the future months.

The club want to thank Karen and Beth Sanderson for organising the teams and all the parents for their support.
