Whitby darts ace Richie Parkin is hoping to hit form this weekend when he competes in the Teesside Open at Thornaby.

The popular tournament could even attract some of the British Darts Organisation stars who competed at the recent televised world championships.

Richie (30) has also decided to enter the Scottish Open over Valentine’s Weekend.

His aim is tocompete well at these events to boost his chances of attracting sponsorship which will allow him to play darts further afield.

He considered quitting the sport before Christmas but was talked out of it by close friend and mentor Glen Durrant, who reached the semi-finals of the BDO world darts at Lakeside.

Keep an eye on the Whitby Gazette to see how Richie gets on.
