WHITBY Maroons face a crunch week which could ultimately determine whether they win promotion this season.
On Saturday (5 Feb), Maroons – who are second in the Durham and Northumberland League division three – entertain third-placed Houghton.
And the following Saturday (12 Feb), the Maroons face undoubtedly their biggest challenge of the campaign so far when runaway leaders North Shields visit the Turnbull.
Two great results could catapult Whitby firmly into the driving seat – victory tomorrow could effectively kill off Houghton’s bid to go up.
Only two sides will be promoted into division two.
Whitby could also benefit from Washington’s inability to complete fixtures.
If the club’s records are expunged, the teams who have beaten them will lose points – but Whitby have not faced them yet.
Rugby fans can catch the opening Six Nations games between England and Wales on the big screen in the Whitby club house on Friday night (4 Feb) at 7.30pm.
