On a glorious afternoon 12 teams assembled at Whitby rugby club to play tag rugby.
The tournament was split into smaller primary schools and larger primary schools.
Danby, St Hilda’s, Glaisdale, Egton, Hawsker and Stakesby B battled it out in the smaller schools tournament.
Glaisdale turned out to be draw specialists – 3-3 v Stakesby B, 5-5 v St Hildas, 6-6 v Egton and 4-4 v Hawsker.
Danby won the tournament - their closest game was against Egton where they won 5-4. Hawsker were second, only losing against Danby.
The larger schools tournament was also a tight affair eventually being won by Ruswarp with Stakesby a close second.
The match between the two teams summed up the afternoon with a close win to Ruswarp 6-5.
Other teams in this tournament were Lythe, Sleights, East Whitby and West Cliff.
School Sports Co-ordinator Pete Woolley said: “What a great afternoon of rugby.
“We are extremely grateful to Whitby Rugby Club for allowing us the use of their facilities.
“Sports leaders from Whitby Community College did a fantastic job of officiating this difficult sport and kept the games flowing to the best of their ability.
“It was great to have Dan Coates, community rugby coach, at the tournament - he has done a great job leading coaching sessions throughout the Whitby area.”
Three teams – Danby, Stakesby and Ruswarp – will now represent Whitby at the partnership final at Malton Rugby Club after the Easter break.
