ANGLER Brian Towle won the £1,000 top prize on the penultimate day of Whitby’s autumn angling festival.

Brian, of Hull, landed a 23lb 11.5oz ling from the boat Shy Torque III to capture the top prize.

It beat the previous highest, caught by Bradford’s John Wilcock, six days previously.
