Goathland Hunt Pony Club sent three teams to a Pony Club Team Show Jumping Competition hosted by Bramham Moor PC, at Northallerton Equestrian Centre Yafforth, on Saturday.

This is the first time this season the teams have been out competing.

The club had a very successful day. The team Goathland Triers consisting of captain Danielle Hardy riding Dino, Aiden Roe on Flame, Micha Ditchburn on Cassie and Megan Gell on Maddie were 6th out of 14 teams in the 65cm class.

They also competed in the relay section, gaining 6th place which is a class none of the riders had done previous to the day.

The Goathland Go-Getters, captained by Rachel Lear riding Ivy, Zac Archibald on Jimmie, Danielle Hardy on Dino and Megan Gell on Maddie, finished a respectable 7th in the 75cms class and 6th in the relay class.

The third team of the day also riding in the 75cms class was The Smiths plus one in their first class of the day was the 75 cm class. Bethany Clarkson riding Super Sal, Alice Smith riding Daisy, Michelle Smith riding Rosie and captain Tilly Smith riding Sparky were the last team to ride out of 23 teams so they knew what was expected of them.

All four rode exceptionally well, riding double clears. A super fast time secured them the winners’ slot in this class.

Sixteen teams then challenged the relay class. Again the Goathland Smiths plus one rode a very competitive round, securing 3rd place.

The club’s district commissioner Steven Gale congratulated all riders for a successful day. Thanks go to the club’s Chief Instructor Cara Shardlow who has been training the young riders, team co-ordinator Jill Gale and parents who supported the teams on the day.
