The penultimate match of 2014 Singles Knockouts final saw the slackest tide of the month for the three-hour, all flood match.

Twenty one Whitby Sea Anglers’ Association members were fishing – but only two double figure bags graced the scales from Colin Stainthorpe and Andrew Cass.

Thirteen members managed a weigh-in, 37 fish for 76 lb 3 oz, 33 codlings, three rocklings and one flat fish.

For those on the beach the lack of whitings was disappointing but James Moore landed the second heaviest fish of the night 4 lb 2 oz from the sand. Colin Stainthorpe was man of the match with six codlings for 16 lb 4 oz, with his third win of the season.

Colin’s bag takes the lead in the monthly sweeps. On form, Andrew Cass, second with 13 lb 7 oz, landed the heaviest fish of the night, 5 lb.

Singles Knockout finalist Ben Laws, early to the scales, with one codling and a rockling for 2 lb 2 oz waited as the weigh masters kept an eye on the time. Dave Perrett arrived and slid three codlings on to the scales, for 5 lb 15 oz, beating Ben Laws by 3 lb 12 oz.
