THE Shambles snooker team has been crowned winners of the Whitby and District Snooker League.

Lythe, who had led the race for so long, were beaten 4-0 by the Shambles and this means they are tied for runners-up spot with the Cons A.

A play-off will be needed to determine the runner-up place.

Jack Orrell from the Sandsend team has won the player of the year title, having narrowly beaten Neil Inglis from Golf Club B. Jack also recorded the highest break of the season with a 59.

Tuesday (22 Mar) sees the team knockout final between Staithes and Cons B being played at Whitby Golf Club at 7pm.

All other finals have been arranged to be played at Whitby Conservative Club over the coming two weeks and the season will culminate with the presentation night, also at the Cons Club, on Saturday 16 April.

Final week’s results: Cons D 2 Cons B 2, Cons C Staithes 2, Lythe 0 Shambles 4, RH Bay 3 Sandsend 1, Golf Club A 1 Cons A 3.
