WHITBY’S Sea Urchin II made a flying start to the spring angling festival by claiming a clean sweep on the first day of competitive action.
After Saturday was cancelled due to windy weather at sea, the three daily prizes on Sunday went to anglers fishing from the boat, owned by Mick Leonard.
Bob Ellis of Sheffield led the way with a 12lb 5.5oz cod to lay a marker for the festival, which is organised by Whitby Charter Skippers’ Association.
He remains the early leader after more wind forced the cancellation of fishing on Tuesday and Wednesday too.
