FYLING Hall emerged as winners of the Scarborough and district under 15s hockey championship.
In a competitive game against Scarborough College on their home astro, played at a fast pace, Fyling Hall triumphed 1-0.
The conest was level at half-time with both teams having several good opportunities to score.
In a tense second half, Fyling Hall started to dominate the midfield through the hard work and excellent play of Samantha Gibson and Danielle Halley.
This domination started to turn into some good chances and with about five minutes to go, Sarah Trowsdale, pounced on a loose ball in the opposition area and scored a crucial goal which was just reward for both her and the team’s hard work.
The last five minutes saw some excellent defending, particularly from Victoria Corner and Leanne Cox as Scarborough College piled on the pressure.
Having cleared the last short corner of the match, the final whistle sounded and the team completed a well-earned victory. The commitment and quality of Fyling Hall shown by the team against a good Scarborough College team is something they can be very proud of.
