WHITBY yachtswoman Megan Fletcher enjoyed an outstanding weekend in the RS500 Magic Marine UK National Championships in Netley, Southampton.
Megan, of Stakesby Vale, won five firsts and a second in the three-day event - and she can still barely elieve her success.
“Meg is still on cloud nine and keeps picking up the trophy to assure herself it is real,” said her mum Deb.
Megan has sailed with her helm, Mike Saul from Harrogate, for nearly four years in two different boats, the RS200 and the RS500, but she prefers the latter.
The pair led the races after day one, already gaining two wins, so started the second day of competition wearing the leaders’ yellow jerseys. capturing another win with a fruther two victories out of three on the Sunday making it a great all-round weekend.
Megan’s home club is Scaling Dam but her family travel away most weekends for sailing events as they are all into the sport.
