Whitby teenager Estella Harrowing took victory in the Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm National Amateur Second Round hosted by Northcote Stud.
Competing on her mother Wendy’s seven-year-old piebald gelding Dereks Choice, Estella (16) took victory in the event in Blackburn.
Twenty-seven competitors came forward to contest this second round and each combination started out with the aim of taking home one of the direct qualifying places on offer in each second round for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool from November 19-23.
The jump off proved to be competitive after 19 combinations produced a first round clear. Thirteen double clears were eventually produced, but with just 12 direct qualifying places available, the clock proved to be pivotal in deciding who qualified.
Having been drawn fifth to go in the jump off, Estella and Dereks Choice set the pace early on after producing their double clear in 35.03 seconds and this was unbeatable.
Second place was taken by 32 year-old Charlotte Hamer from Bolton, Lancashire with her own 12 year-old bay gelding Camiro Z. They produced their double clear in 36.71 seconds to book their spot in the Championship Final.
Third place went to 14 year-old Kate Samuel from Tarporley, Cheshire.
An additional nine riders also went on to secure their qualification for the final.
