Whitby Endeavour has kicked off its new season with three away fixtures at the Graham School Table Tennis Centre.
To date they have recorded one defeat, one draw and one win.
The win came against Liberators who joined the league this season after having a series of coaching sessions at the Centre.
In spite of their lack of experience, they gave a
good account of themselves in securing their first league point.
Whitby Endeavour are fortunate in having a squad of players to draw upon and with several regulars unavailable, where able to bring in Mike Stones for his second league match and Dan Schweitzer for his first game having just flown in from Germany.
Plackett and Schweitzer recorded three comfortable wins in their singles, but Mike Stones was unable to re-capture the excellent form he had shown in his previous match against St Ives. Going into the doubles, Liberators needed a win to secure another league point and fought hard to do so, pushing Plackett and Schweitzer close in a nervy four-ender, 13-11, 7–11, 10–12, 14–16.
