WHITBY hockey starket Beth Sanderson is the latest to benefit from a Scarborough and District Sports Council grant which financially supports young talented sports people from the Whitby area.
Matt Hewison, Scarborough and District Sports Council’s sports development officer, said: “Beth is a very talented hockey player and as with many talented athletes from the town, she has to travel to receive coaching and relevant player opportunities.
“The financial burden this puts on parents is immense so anything we can do to assist is always worthwhile.
“We are always looking at ways to top up our Sports Grants Fund and if any clubs, businesses or individuals wish to contribute, they are more than welcome to do so.
“We recently held a sports quiz that raised £170 for the scheme, which was attended by Whitby Cricket Club.
“The evening went really well and the cricket club finished runners-up to North Cliff Bowling Club.”
