Anglers still chasing after £5,000 in Whitby festival

COMPETITORS in the Whitby summer angling festival are still chasing after long-time leader John Wilcock as the race for the £5,000 top prize hots up.

Wilcock, of Bradford, landed a 26lb ling on the opening day of the festival and no-one has come close to it yet, although there is still time - the festival, organised by Whitby Charter Skippers’ Association, runs until 10 July.

2 Ray Daniel, Darlington, ling 16lb 1oz, Charisma – this takes third place in the ling section.

3 Brian Jardine, Langholm, Dumfriesshire, cod 14lb 15.5oz, Never Can Tell “A”
