COMPETITORS in the Whitby summer angling festival are still chasing after long-time leader John Wilcock as the race for the £5,000 top prize hots up.
Wilcock, of Bradford, landed a 26lb ling on the opening day of the festival and no-one has come close to it yet, although there is still time - the festival, organised by Whitby Charter Skippers’ Association, runs until 10 July.
Local lads James Verrill and Tim Wright were among yesterday’s prize-winners.
