Marske tie ends season

Sleights played their last friendly match of the Season, against Marske.

The game was a home and away competition for the Ellie Hillyard Trophy.

Sleights started the day 14 points down on the away game and lost the home game by 12 points so Marske regained the Trophy.

Sleights lost to Marske at home 119-131: C Shardlow, I Pearson, R Clark, L White lost 14-30; L Campbell, P Rudsdale, B Raw, T Reid lost 22-26; P Harrison, M Wade, E Clark, E White won 28-14; Be Raw, J Rudsdale, M Swalwell, T Bogg, lost 14-30; F Bogg, C Cowen, P Shardlow, I Harrison won 23-13;B McLean, A Fletcher, D Marshall, J Weatherall drew 18-18.

The club held its annual charity day which members of Castleton Bowling Club joined.

A raffle, tombola and various competitions were held and a faith tea concluded the day.

A total of 460 was raised and added to a donation of 120 from the Beckhole Quoits Club, and 365 raised previously, to make a grand total of 945 to go to this year’s chosen charity, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The Scarborough District Veterans’ League has now been completed and Sleights have excelled, with the red team winning division one and the blue team being runners-up.

The Pickering Ladies’ League has also been completed and the Sleights team did well to be runners up to Swinton.
