Jack shines at Harwood Dale

HINDERWELL trials bike rider Jack Howell showed his rivals how it's done with an impressive display at Harwood Dale.

The Scarborough and District Motor Club's clerk of the course and experienced section marker Dave Wilkinson had the challenging task of plotting a course giving all riders a fun, enjoyable and entertaining weekend's riding – and it didn't disappoint.

The first day's riding at Harwood Dale kick started into action with 80-plus riders aiming for top spot.

Leading the challenge for Scarborough in the Youth A class was Jack Howell. Jack is in top form, competing very well at national and regional level and he went into his home event very much the favourite.

Competing in the Youth A class and riding under the Scarborough banner were Oliver Kendra, Nikita Smith, Matt Ackerly, Joe Clements and young hot-shot Dan Peace.

This was a competitive class with some strong challenges, in particular from leading national rider Luke Walker, riding for Team MRS Sherco.

Early nerves from high-flyer Jack Howell in the A class were soon put to rest with Jack posting some great rides on sections where his peers were simply unable to cope.

Jack ended the the first day on 26 marks, some six marks ahead of his nearest rival Bradley Cox.

The second day saw Cox post three better lap scores than Howell, who had a nervous wait for the results.

Jack eventually won the trial by one mark much to the delight of the Whitby youth and his local fans.

The event was sponsored by Whitby-based firm Eskdale Stone.

Special thanks to all people whom made this event possible from club organisers to event sponsors and the club look forward to continuing this popular event next year.
