Hinderwell footballer nets first England goals

HINDERWELL footballer Beth Mead netted her first goals for England under 15s in an international friendly against Holland.

Beth, who is 14 and a student at Whitby Community College, played two matches against the Dutch and started both games.

In the first game, Beth scored England's third goal in a pulsating 3-3 draw and in the second game, England drew 1-1 with Beth scoring the only goal.

She has also just received the news that she has been included in the next squad which will meet up at Bradfield College near Reading for a five day training camp over the Easter holidays.

Beth said she enjoyed the whole experience away in Holland and was thrilled to have scored two goals for her country.

On Saturday, Beth played for Middlesbrough U16s against Sunderland which resulted in Middlesbrough winning 7-6 winners.

Beth really showed off her goalscoring talents by scoring four goals, taking her tally to 30 goals in 12 games this season.

Her talents did not go unnoticed.

Looking after the Sunderland squad was the Sunderland ladies manager, Mick Mulhern, who play in the Women's Premier League.

Mr Mulhern told her how well she had played and told her he would like to sign her as soon as she turns 16 years old.
