Kildale knocked off Hinderwell’s score of 112 in 16 overs with the loss of three wickets to give them victory on a chilly night at Hinderwell.
Despite suffering two defeats so far this season, this young Hinderwell team still came away from the Esk Valley Evening league match happy.
They took their first wickets of the season and produced another great knock, this time a 52 from Jamie Baker, who shared a second wicket stand of 90 with Jason Steyert (38).
Phil Nedley of Hinderwell Cricket Club praised his young troops and offered plenty of encouragement for coming games.
“All this shows that we are on the right track,” he said.
“Captain Steve Sargent is sharing the batting and the bowling and giving the young cricketers plenty of opportunities to learn while playing the game.
“Wickets for Sam and Reece Cole are indication that our philosophy is working.
“These are the young players we want to grow our club with and it is a viewpoint shared by all involved.
“As players become available, the young stars of the future will get fewer opportunities but they must be patient and be ready to step into the team when required.
“Now all we need is a sponsor.”
