Gymnasts head to final

TEAMS from Fylingdales, Stakesby, Goathland, Egton, West Cliff, Ruswarp, Lythe and East Whitby Schools took part in the years five and six key step three gymnastics festival at Eskdale School.

Teams battled it out competing in body management, floor and vault categories.

A mix of years seven to nine students from Eskdale were on hand to make sure the event ran smoothly by coaching and judging the teams in each discipline.

Within the large schools competition, Stakesby's team eventually came out on top, closely followed by West Cliff then Lythe.

For the small schools Egton took home the trophy, closely followed by Fylingdales in second place.

An air of friendly competition surrounded the event and all teams put in a fantastic effort.

The top three high scoring teams from the event were due to represent Whitby at the Ryedale v Whitby Partnership final at Eskdale last week.

FYLINGDALES and East Whitby Schools won the small and large school sections respectively of the years three and four gym festival held earlier in the year. The winners are pictured here.
