Three-way tie for Sunday Betterball

THE unpleasant weather meant that there were no takers for either the Midweek Stableford on 28 November or the Stableford on 1 December.

However the Fourball Betterball took place on Sunday morning over 15 holes, and there was a three-way tie on 56.

In first place, decided over the last three holes, were Dean Bennett and Chris Noble.

John Wightman and Kieran Noble were second and John Littleton and Andy Pearson third.

On Saturday (8 Dec), the competition is a Whisky Trot; Sunday’s game is a Turkey Trot and there will be a Whisky Trot on Wednesday.

Please note that there is a starting sheet in use for both of the weekend competitions.

The ladies’ section played the December Medal on Tuesday over 15 holes and this was won by Sheena Hamilton with 63.

Kath Cooling and Doreen Richardson had 64, Marjorie Mackenzie 65 and Karen Marshall 66.

The weekly draw for £100 in the 200 Club was won by Amanda Ing.

Tony’s Tip:

Get some lag in your chips! This is not some new condiment for your after-game snack, but a way to ensure that you strike the ball before catching the ground when playing the short shots.

It is so easy in these little shots to push the club forward with your hands to start the through swing, but this will often hit the shot ‘fat’.

Instead, try to feel the clubhead lagging behind the hands and arms, so that the hands stay ahead of the clubhead.
