Glaisdale pony club wins three-day event

A LOCAL pony club has qualified for the novice championships in Cheshire at the end of this month.

Glaisdale Hunt Pony Club members recently won the Pony Club area three novice one-day event at Mickley, near Ripon.

Team members are Max Crossling who rode Bill, Anna Wood who rode TJ, Sarah Little who rode Blue Admiral and Joey Fowles who rode Ruby.

They were competing against 22 other teams, with each rider performing a dressage test, jumping a round of show jumps and a round of cross country fences.

Anna was placed 2nd individually and Sarah 4th, while the team finished overall winners.

This qualifies them for the Novice Championships in Cheshire at the end of the month, which they are very much looking forward to.

Other successes for our club this year have been the team of Paige Beeforth riding Ruby, Kristina Hide on Bacardi, Sarah Little riding Blue Admiral and Sara Hall on Sabrina, finishing second at the area three novice show jumping competition.

Also, the junior team of Sara Hall (Sabrina), Max Crossling (Bill), Lucy Gilsenan (Maddie) and Maizie Thompson (Tango) finished 10th at the area three junior show jumping competition.

Sara Hall has also been very successful in the area tetrathlon competition, winning the intermediate section and qualifying for the championships at Hartpury in Gloucestershire.

Pony Club tetrathlon consists of shooting, swimming, riding and running phases.

A Glaisdale Hunt Pony Club spokesman said: "Our branch is one of the smallest in the area and these are great results."
