Fylingdales firsts win east coast clash

FYLINGDALES’ first string visited Scarborough on Sunday and returned over the moor victorious.

Batting first, Mark Estill showed what an excellent all-round cricketer he is, smashing 92 as Dales reached 191/8,

Peter (Pedro) Hinchliffe gave him competent support with 53 and Mario Spagnuolo, although suffering again from a knee injury, chipped in with 17 useful runs.

The pick of Scarborough’s attack was Bob Carver with 5-33.

In reply, the home side were dismissed by Dales’ seam attack for 111.

Martin Cairns bowled a good line and returned figures of 3-53, well backed by Mark Estill 2-10 and veteran Andy Smith 2- 20. Dales were captained and led by Barrie Heyes in the absence of the experienced but injured Duncan Steele.
