Fylingdales 2nds soar to top of table

FYLINGDALES 2nds moved to the top of Derwent Valley League division B after fellow title-contenders Whitby 3rds lost to Great Habton.

Due to team members playing for the firsts on Saturday, Fylingdales 2nd team saw six players aged 15 or under in the squad for their visit to Wombleton.

Wombleton chose to bat and were eventually all dismissed for 117 in the 34th over.

Bill Estill starred with the ball, taking five wickets for 55 runs with Chris Shrimpton taking 2-21.

Brad Magson was the best of the Lockton batsmen scoring 29, although he was dropped when on just five. Junior wicket-keeper Robbie Hurworth excelled behind the stumps, conceding just three byes.

Skipper Will Barber and 13-year-old Theo Clarke opened for Fylingdales and with the score on just 21, Barber was bowled.

Another junior, Kieron Howard, came in and with Clarke, took the score to 97 when Clarke was bowled for 44.

Chris Shrimpton struck a quick-fire 13 to see Fylingdales home in the 23rd over.
