Whitby boys hit double figures again

FISHBURN Park under 11s travelled to fourth place Wynyard and hit double figures for the second week running.

The confidence is rife throughout the team now after six wins on the bounce and it was again a great team effort with six different scorers.

Ward and Swales had good early chances to put Park ahead but found the home keeper in good form.

Park went 1-0 up after 10 minutes when Horne headed in a fine cross at the back post. Hansell was next up with a right foot drive from the edge of the box.

The home team pulled a fortunate goal back as a corner was fired in and deflected by Sault into his own net.

But Park responded well and Clennan’s shot from distance was steered in by Ward to leave the keeper no chance.

Hambley was introduced at half time and had an instant impact, using his pace to get down the right wing and blasting his first of the game. Hambley again sped down the right and fired over a low cross which Horne met at the edge of the box and drilled into the far corner.

Wynyard reduced the arrears when their defender headed in from a good corner for 5-2. But this was against the run of play and Park added a further six to the tally.

Fergus himself four goals, the first fortunate as the ball struck him on the head from a cross, he then blitzed the home team with three clinical strikes, Ward-Hepburn volleyed one from close range and Hambley blasted a stunner into the roof of the net from distance.
