HINDERWELL started the better team and should have been at least 3-0 up after 20 minutes.
Wasteful finishing kept the score 0-0 until around the half-hour mark when some good work by James Lillis saw Gary Marsay latch on to his cross to put Hinderwell 1-0 up at half-time.
Brotton put some pressure on Hinderwell in the second half and it paid off when the referee failed to spot a foul on a Hinderwell player on the edge of the box, and Brotton scored.
Hinderwell started again like the first half and were rewarded through good play from Chris Mann to find Lillis who put his shot in the top corner.
Hinderwell continued to be the better team but from a Brotton corner Hinderwell cleared the ball only to hit the ref and the ball landed at a striker’s feet to rifle the ball home.
Brotton were lucky not to be down to 10 men after the centre back who picked up yellow card in the first half threw himself down in the box hoping for a favourable decision from the referee.
Hinderwell won the game when Jamie Waters hit a 30-yard drive, which flew straight over the keeper’s head into the net to make the game 3-2 and a well-deserved victory for Hinderwell.
