TWO of Whitby’s local league football teams ran amok at the weekend as they banged in no less than 29 goals between them.
Whitby RFC demolished Scalby Reserves 13-0 at The Showfield, with three players – Damon Craig, Ian Rhucroft and Ben Watson – grabbing hat-tricks.
Craig netted after only 20 seconds as Whitby attacked straight from kick-off and they pushed on from there, with Stu Hancock, Ben Hogarth, Lee Brennan and Mike Kilpatrick all adding their names to the scoresheet.
Whitby Fishermen’s Society went three better as they annihilated Ganton 16-0.
Fishermen’s move up to second behind Riskers United, whose game at FC Filey was called off. Both play in the Scarborough and District League division three, where they are on course for promotion.
Another Whitby side, Fishburn Park Reserves, progressed into the third round of the Harbour Cup with a 4-0 win over Scalby.
