First In Last Out’s Division Two title ambitions were dented when they were held to a 3-3 draw at Roscoes Bar on Thursday evening.
The result leaves Les Brown’s men third in the league table, 10 points behind leaders Trafalgar Reserves with just two games in hand.
Phil Spencer headed home from a corner to put the Whitby side in front after 20 minutes but the hosts levelled almost immediately through Jamie Wray.
Roscoes took the lead after the interval when Jamie Wray picked out the bottom corner of the net to claim his second of the night.
Spencer was on target again to tie things up at 2-2, and although FILO saw plenty of the ball, it was the home side who grabbed the game’s next goal when Gary Hepples cut inside and smashed in.
The visitors made sure that they didn’t make the long trip back up the coastal road empty handed when Dan Brown equalised following a scramble in the box, despite claims for a foul on a Roscoes defender in the build-up to the goal.
Two-goal Spencer was named FILO’s man of the match.
“It was a good game, both teams went at it but we had the best of possesion and missed chances at the end to win,” Brown reflected.
“I feel we have dropped points, but we we will fight on and are confident of finishing the season well.”
