FISHBURN Park’s under 11s progressed to the quarter-finals of the County Cup after beating a strong Richmond Town team.
The signs were good early on as Park pushed the visitors back into their own half with some confident play.
The defenders and midfielders won the ball high up the pitch and set up plenty of attacks for Park.
Horne impressed during this spell following on from the previous game and provided the pass for Fergus who raced clear to smash high into the net for Parl’s well-deserved first goal.
Park remained on top with some excellent passing moves and strong tackling and really needed to push home the advantage but just could not get the second goal.
The last five minutes of the half saw the visitors come on strongly and Park were caught by a quick throwing allowing an unchallenged shot which Humble saved well, only for the rebound to fall at the forwards feet for 1-1.
This unsettled Park and again, just before the break, Richmond broke free down the left and the ball into the area was tucked away brilliantly for 2-1 Richmond at the break.
Half time talk was easy, just keep playing as we did first 20 minutes.
Park rallied and came out playing some more good football throughout the second half and 10 minutes in, scored a fantastic team goal, the ball passed around lovely and the final cross in from the right was hit first time into the top corner by Swales.
The rest of the game was end-to-end at times but neither team could find the winner.
Down to penalties it went and Park won through with Fergus, Swales and Tiplady in goal doing the honours.
Man of the match: Dylan Swales – brilliant goal, cool penalty and some excellent passing throughout the match.
