Sleights’ 2015/16 season got off to a bad start when they suffered a heavy defeat on the road at Edgehill on Saturday.

Tyler Richardson set the home side on their way with a fine left-footed strike from 30 yards and Danny Collins added a second before half-time.

A double from Kurtis Henderson, plus efforts from his brother Lloyd, Mike Barker and Jackson Jowett wrapped up the win in the second half.

Tom Kilpatrick and Ben Watson netted for Sleights who had striker Billy Graham in top form.

Elsewhere in Division One, Whitby Fishermen were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Hunmanby United.

Sleights Reserves failed to build on last week’s derby victory over Fishburn Park Reserves when they lost 2-1 at home to FC Rosette.

Robin Dixon and Chris Thompson registered for the visitors in a one-sided first half where Rosette also hit the woodwork on two occasions.

Sleights improved after the break, but it took until the last 10 minutes before they could get on the scoresheet, Lee Brennan knocking in what proved to be a mere consolation goal in the end.

Fishburn Park suffered their second defeat on the bounce when they lost out 6-2 at Goal Sports.
