TWO first half goals from James Rice clinched three points for Staithes on Saturday.
Staithes took early control of the game with the greater effort to win the ball and keep possession of the ball.
Rice’s double - his first a suburb drive from a great ball crossed into the penalty area - ensured a comfortable lead at half-time.
At the start of the second half, Ayton had a brief spell of dominance and on 55 minutes, Tom Mannering pulled a goal back to give Ayton hope.
Staithes took control of the game again when Alan Midgley headed home a great Staithes move on 80 minutes to seal the win.
