Rhucroft injury mars big win

SLEIGHTS’ biggest victory of the season was marred by a serious ankle injury to midfielder Ian Rhucroft.

He was taken to Scarborough Hospital with ligament damage during a first half where Jake Faichney’s goal separated the sides in Saturday’s Scarborough Junior Cup encounter.

After the break, the visitors found their shooting boots, with Faichney racing to an additional second-half hat-trick, while braces from substitute Ben Watson and winger Andy Martin saw the visitors ease home.

The villagers will travel to Division Two Edgehill Reserves in the next round of the competition on 13 October.

Meanwhile, Jim Howard’s men have an equally tough task in the league on Saturday (29 Sep), when they entertain 100% leaders Athletico2B at Caedmon School, with a 2pm kick-off.
