Fishburn Park under 12s ended the season the same way they started - with another win over last year’s champions Scholes Park Raiders.
Despite Raiders only having nine players, they put up a good fight and made it difficult for Fishburn throughout.
Within five minutes, a penalty was awarded to Fishburn after Callum Halley was fouled.
Although the penalty hit a post, Halley made sure from the rebound.
On 12 minutes, Jamie Entwistle played a perfect pass to Will Richardson, who calmly dribbled into the box and scored a wonderful goal by chipping the goalkeeper.
The score at half-time was 2-1 after the Raiders got a goal back when the Fishburn defence were caught out by a long ball just before the break.
Fishburn’s fitness and extra players had a big part to play in the second half.
Within the first minute, Ben Braim’s charging run and good pass set up Jack Duckling who slid the ball under the keeper. Richardson then claimed his second goal of the game after a goalmouth scramble ended with the ball in the Raiders net.
Midway through the half, Raiders scored their second goal, making it 4-2.
Fishburn striker Jack Gale then showed his pace and dribbling skills to take on some of the Raiders’ defence before sending an unstoppable strike into the top corner.
It was then Jack Kipling’s turn to run at the defence; his great pass set Halley up for his second of the game and 29th of the season. Gale finished off Fishburn’s goals with another skip through the Raiders defence but it was Scholes Park who scored the last of the game to make it 7-3.
