Whitby’s new Fishburn Park ladies’ team got their first win of the season in style on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Fishburn choose to attack downhill, a potential game winning decision.
Pressure from kick-off led to an early corner.
Jess Purvis’s inch perfect corner was met by Dee Price whose header powered past the keeper to put the home team 1-0 up within five minutes.
Superb link-up play in midfield and constant pressure from the Fishburn strikers led to more goals in the first 20 minutes.
Beth Grason’s powerful shot was saved by the keeper but only into the path of Laura Anderson, who made sure she made it 2-0.
After skipping past the Fulford defence, Purvis made it 3-0 with a stunning strike from the edge of the area.
Both Purvis and Price completed hat-tricks before the end of the first 45minutes and an own goal secured an 8-0 lead at the break.
As Fulford pushed players up in the second half, the Fishburn defence remained solid.
Centre backs Kirsty Dixon and Laura Jackson controlled the back which allowed Nicola Hart, Lily McQuade and Jenny Sedman to get forward and support the Fishburn attacks.
Emma-Lee Orton battled away in centre midfield as Fishburn capitalised on a stretched Fulford defence with more goals coming from Price, Purvis (2), Grason and Hannah Clark to make the score 13-0.
Louise Middlemas, playing on the wing, was a threat every time she got the ball.
Her shot/cross late on in the game was turned in by a defender to complete the 14-0 win.
Player-managers Deborah and Denise Reddy played a half each in goal, keeping the team’s first clean sheet of the season.
The next game is at home to Middlesbrough Ladies on Sunday in the County Cup, 2pm kick-off.
